Sarok celebration marks the prayer to the mother earth for well being. It further aims at doing away with the evil spirits. Sarok is the supreme authority over all living beings and the festival belongs to the Akas of the East Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh. Sarok, precisely, is a hat made of bamboo strips and dried banana leaves. They make it an occasion of enthusiasm and traditional frevor at Bana festival celebration ground in East Kameng district. According to the historians, the farmers made saroks in the 1920s to protect themselves from the heat of the sun or the cold rain when they were doing the chores in their farms.

Sarok is an occasion for all the country people to come together and simply be happy. Further it is an occasion to sacrifice sacrificing mithuns, pigs and chickens. On the final day, the entire villagers watch the death of the animals stranded to a bamboo altar (animals lungs) are being used to foretell the next harvesting season.
