Sikkim, the land of unique culture, land people and places often remains festive giving much to the delights of thousands of the tourists. SonamLochar is one of the widely celebrated festival. It basically belongs to the Tamangs. But the festivity grips the entire state irrespective of caste and community. The Tamangs gear up for the celebration from the December-end and the event takes place in January-February when the spring falls in full circle.  

Apart from religious tradition, songs and dances, sports and feasts mark the 15 day long festival where the tourists share the joy of it.
